run lola run
I've started running. Yup, like those faux happy yuppies that I've always hated, the ones that do laps in Sir Winston Churchill Park. What I didn't really know, though, is the strain and the torment; the reality of running. Frustration, agony, panting -- that's what it's about. But then it's over. And the heat swarms my body and I think everything's okay. It's as if I'm walking on air. One foot, then the next. I'm exercising every muscle in my body, and more importantly, every thought, in order to tell myself not to stop. So, I run. And I run and I run and I run. Though trite, running is possibly the most appropriate metaphor for life (but none of them are that appropriate, really).

mademoiselle yulia
I hate to sound all Western-centric, but Japan's fashion world holds itself, in my mind, in a faraway luxury land of manga-inspired ensembles, unhinged color combos and wildly loose pants. Mademoiselle Yulia is like a superhero in some alt fashion comic book experiment. It sounds like it would be the worst idea, but thanks to these photographs (courtesy of Vice Style) of the DJ/stylist/designer, this Nicki Minaj-esque (sorry, it's a point of reference) is my latest fashion revelation.

frantic and fatigued
"Such is the state of the media business these days: frantic and fatigued. Young journalists who once dreamed of trotting the globe in pursuit of a story are instead shackled to their computers, where they try to eke out a fresh thought or be first to report even the smallest nugget of news — anything that will impress Google algorithms and draw readers their way."
